Community Challenges

Addressing Key Issues

David Holland is committed to tackling the most pressing issues facing Northampton County. His focus includes improving economic opportunities, enhancing public safety, and ensuring access to quality education. By prioritizing these areas, he aims to create a thriving community where every resident can succeed.

Access to Mental Health Care: A Priority for Northampton County

Access to quality mental health care is not a privilege—it is a necessity. As a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and lifelong resident of Northampton County, I have seen firsthand the challenges our community faces in securing timely, affordable, and effective mental health services. Too many individuals, from our youth to our elderly, struggle in silence due to long wait times, provider shortages, and financial barriers.

We must do better. I am committed to expanding mental health resources, strengthening community-based services, and advocating for policies that ensure every resident has access to the care they need—whether it’s crisis intervention, counseling, or long-term treatment. Investing in mental health is an investment in our community’s well-being, safety, and future. Together, we can break the stigma, remove barriers, and ensure that mental health care is available to all who need it in Northampton County.

Standing Against Warehouse Proliferation in Northampton County

The rapid expansion of warehouses in Northampton County threatens our safety, environment, and quality of life. Increased truck traffic clogs our roads, making highways more dangerous and increasing air pollution. Meanwhile, the loss of farmland and open spaces leads to environmental degradation, flooding risks, and the disappearance of our county’s small-town character.

While economic growth is essential, warehouse development should not come at the expense of our health, infrastructure, and community identity. These facilities strain public resources, requiring costly infrastructure upgrades while offering limited, low-wage job opportunities that do not support long-term economic stability.

As your representative on Northampton County Council, I will fight for smart, responsible development that protects our residents, preserves our green spaces, and ensures that economic progress benefits everyone—not just large corporations. It’s time to prioritize our communities over warehouse sprawl and build a future that values both prosperity and quality of life.

Flooding and Infrastructure Resilience

Severe flash flooding in July 2023 caused over $7.5 million in damages across multiple municipalities, highlighting the county’s vulnerability to natural disasters. Efforts to assess and repair infrastructure, as well as to implement mitigation strategies, have been prioritized to enhance community resilience.

Broadband Access and Digital Equity

Access to reliable and affordable broadband internet has emerged as a critical issue. Surveys conducted in 2023 revealed that many Northampton  residents and businesses experience inadequate internet service, with some areas lacking access to fiber connections. In response, county officials have explored strategies to improve broadband infrastructure, including the potential development of a county-owned network.

Community Engagement

Fostering Open Dialogue

David Holland believes in the power of community engagement as a cornerstone of effective governance. He plans to host regular community forums and listening sessions, providing a platform for residents to voice their concerns and ideas. By actively seeking input from diverse groups, David will ensure that the council’s actions reflect the true needs and aspirations of the community.

Through partnerships with local organizations and grassroots initiatives, David aims to create a network of support that empowers citizens to participate in the democratic process. By fostering an inclusive environment, he will encourage open dialogue and collaboration, building a stronger, more connected Northampton County.
